Dayton Valley Golf & Country Club at Legado

Dayton Valley Golf & Country Club at Legado is not your usually Reno-Tahoe casino area golf course. This Arnold Palmer design is down in a valley where the sun definitely shines. If you're looking for a tan, this is the Reno course for you with temperatures higher than most of the surrounding areas. Dayton Valley is also the place to go for water in the desert.

You'll find water on 11 of Dayton Valley's 18 holes. Including No. 6 - a par 3 with a island green that almost everyone who plays Dayton seems to leave with a story about. It's a striking hole and if you hit your ball to the right it's going splash.

The biggest obstacle at Dayton Valley just might be the wind though. On the days when it's blowing strong, it can be a three club difference at Dayton Valley. That tends to get magnified when you're shooting over and around so much water. The lack of trees adds to the wind's affect and makes Dayton Valley one of the more unique-looking golf courses in the entire greater Reno casino and nature land.

Since it Dayton Valley opened in 1991, about 30 other newer courses have opened up in the High Sierras, but Palmer's 7,218-yard track stands up very well. Dayton Valley's big makeover has come in a new $6 million clubhouse that includes a bar with five high-definition TVs and a private dining area.
