Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course is probably the most famous golf course in the entire greater Reno-Lake Tahoe area. It's routinely rated among the Top 100 golf courses in America and its scenery is second to none. Edgewood plays out along the sparkling blue waters of Lake Tahoe and the towering pines of a big forest. Yet, it's right in the heart of Lake Tahoe, behind many of the casinos, a very quick drive from many of the hotels.

George Fazio designed Edgewood. This was back in the days when his nephew Tom Fazio was just a lowly apprentice working for him. You can certainly see the Fazio drama in Edgewood. Particularly on the back nine and a very memorable closing stetch. No. 16 has you shooting straight toward the lake and the snow-capped mountains looming beyond it. No. 17 is a par 3 that runs right along the lake. On a nice summer day, boats will be out there bobbing a quick throw from the tee with sunbathers on their decks.

You probably never had that type of distraction on a golf course before.

Edgewood Tahoe is unique like that. There are holes with plenty of up and downs, holes with views of the Tahoe main casino strip and holes where you feel like you've been swallowed up by the forest. Edgewood Tahoe can be an amphitheater of tall trees and a showcase of the lake that gives the town its name and brings many of its tourists.

No wonder some non-golfers are still drawn to Edgewood Tahoe's parking lot just to get some of the best lake views in town.
